2012 MacBook Pro vs. 2017 MacBook Pro Performance

What can I expect in performance improvement going from a 2012 MacBook Pro with a 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 processor / 8 Gb RAM to a 2017 MacBook Pro with 3.3 GHz dual-core Intel i5 w/ Turbo Boost /16 Gb RAM? It's hard to understand based on the information I am reading on line.

Hi,

I haven't seen compiled results for the 2017s yet, but here's a comparison between the 2012 dual core 2.9GHz and several 2016 MBPs with different dual core CPUs. Note that the 2017 model should be a bit faster yet, but I was surprised there wasn't a bigger difference between the 2012 and 2016 models. To get current individual scores on 2017 MBPs, check out Geekbench scores.
