Apple Music and losing disk space on an iPhone SE

Hello all,

I have an iPhone SE with iOs 10.3.1.

I am currently testing the free Apple Music 3 months trial.

And it seems that since i add music albums in my iCloud library, I'm gradually losing space on the hard drive of my iPhone. And I don't understand why, because i never downloaded music directly on the iPhone, only on the cloud library (the information "music downlodaded" is at zero Ko).

I read somewhere that I need to clear the cache of Apple Music, by disabling the enabling frequently the iCloud Music Library. It indeed gives me back a few hundreds of Mo, but since i started the trial, I lost 2 Go of disk space on the iPhone... That I never retrieved. And I'm sure it is because of Apple Music because I didn't install nor especillay used other app last months.

Can you tell me what's going on ?

Because if Apple Music keeps on taking more and more disk space, i won't continue after the free trial...

Hi teardr0p,

Your right Apple music does take up space when using it because in order to stream music it has to temporarily download it to your device. iOS will get rid of these files once it needs the extra space so unless you are getting a storage almost full message then your iPhone is working as expected. I would recommend to update as the latest version is iOS 10.3.2. Remember this type of behavior is true for any music streaming app as they all work on the same principle. You also may want to review your settings. Go to Settings > Music it should give a description under each settings to let you know what it does.

So the tip "disable an enable iCloud Music Library" is really known to clear the cache ?

But why doesn't it give me back the 2 Go I lost since I use Apple Music ?

And I already had the full storage message, and I had to clear the cache to get rid of it.
