[NAS] Force LAN connection over WiFi

Hello Ladies and Gents,

I have Synology DS415+ NAS (with assigned IP adress) connected to my router and also to my iMac through cat-6e cable (AFP). Lately I noticed that if I copy the files from iMac's disk to the NAS it then use the WiFi connection instead of LAN (different speed results).

How can I force my iMac to use LAN connection when cable is connected?

P.S. Turning off the WiFi on NAS is a no do since we also reach it from other places.

Regards,

Paul

One method would be to create two network locations for your iMac, and then, switch locations depending on what type of network connection (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) you want to use at that point in time. One of these locations would have only the Ethernet connector; whereas the other would just have Wi-Fi.

System Preferences > Network > Location > Edit Locations... > +

The second would be to make sure that Ethernet is listed at the top of the Network connectors pane.
