How can I create ringtone? 12.6.

It seems all other posts are for different versions and do not have the specific path for this combination. Any help is appreciated.

To create your own ringtone;

  1. Open iTunes ( I'm using version 12.7..) and connect your iPhone.
  2. Got to song you wish to create ringtone from
  3. Right click song and select Song Info as shown below,User uploaded file
  4. Under Song Info, select Options and set the timeline section (start/stop) of the song that you want to use as a ringtone. Please Note, the maximum duration of your ringtone cannot be more than 30s, in other words the time difference between start and stop should be 30s. Click OK
  5. User uploaded file
  6. In iTunes go to File -> Convert -> Create Apple Lossless VersionUser uploaded file
  7. A new Apple lossless 30s song will be added to your iTunes library. Right click this song and click copy. Go to your desktop and click paste. The song file will be pasted there.
  8. Right click the pasted file on your desktop, change the file extension from m4a to m4r.
  9. Go back to iTunes and Click the iPhone icon as shown below;User uploaded file
  10. On the left pane, scroll down and click Tones.
  11. Drag the m4r file from your desktop into Tones section.
  12. Back to the left pane, click Summary and make sure the following are tickedUser uploaded file
  13. Finally, Click Synch and Done. Go to your iPhone menu and select sound, select your new ringtone. Your iPhone is now personalised and no longer using the default iPhone tones that everyone on the train uses.

I hope this was helpful.

Create a ringtone in iTunes

  1. Select a track to use as the source. You cannot use an Apple Music item, or anything that is in the cloud.
  2. On the Get Info > Options tab set start and stop times less than 40 seconds apart.
  3. Under Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings choose AAC Encoder > High Quality 128k.
  4. Use File > Convert > Create AAC version.
  5. Reset the start and stop times on the original track.
  6. Right-click on the new copy and click Show in Windows Explorer or Finder.
  7. Delete the new entry from the library without sending to the recycle bin/trash.
  8. Change the file extension from .m4a to .m4r. (You may need to adjust folder options to see the extensions)
  9. Move the file into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder inside your media folder, it will be added to the Tones section of the library.
  10. If you don't see Tones in the drop down media selection menu click Edit Menu at the bottom and add it.
  11. Connect the device, select its icon next to the media selection menu, then the device's Tones tab, and set the sync options.
  12. Sync the device.
