Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items. Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History…. The down side is it clears all cookies. Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site. Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db and move it to the trash.

Go to Safari Preferences/Extensions and turn all extensions off. Test. If okay, turn the extensions on one by one until you figure out what extension is causing the problem.

If that doesn't work, try running this program in your normal account , then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. I did not use this the first time it was suggested because I was afraid it was phishing. Your note reassured me but when I try to copy it i get another note warning me that the people giving me advice are probably not apple support employees. It would be nice to have some confidence in all this. Nevertheless, i ran the check, it produced a report, and then the report vanished from the screen and I can't find it or the Eteria program on my machine. please advise. I then spent the time to run it again and here are the results.

it's crashing Yahoo.com while I'm sending email. it sends me a box saying the problem is being reported to Apple. it may crash a half dozen times until I shut down Yahoo and reboot my machine. it tells me it's sending messages but they don't get sent. Since it doesn't happen in Chrome or Firefox I'm assuming theproblem lies with Safari.

After your reply a few days ago I emptied the cache and it seemed to work well for about a week. starting today in Safari only when I go to MyYahoo and then try to navigate into my yahoo mail account I get a fractured page with a few oversized symbols in black and white and some of the navigation words from my email page in an odd typeface that are not links. I can access the account in Firefox. What is going on???? I really don't want to dump all the cookies etc but I will take those steps if they're the only way to get this back. this is beyond irritating

incidentally, am i the only one having this problem? my machine also keeps losing its connection to my wifi account. it will randomly reset itself to xfinity or some other account that doesn't work. I've had it looked at at a genius bar. They had to reconfigure my desktop but said it didn't appear to be anything wrong with the machine itself. I really can't afford to buy a new machine but this one is just not working like it should. I get a lot of spinning wheels and At times in Yahoo it will suddenly start taking about 20 seconds for each letter i'm typing to show up on the screen. I have to shut down the entire system and reboot it.
