activation server is temporarily unavailable when putting in Apple ID

If you are having trouble signing into your Apple ID during the set up assistant process you can skip that step by tapping on "Don't have Apple ID or Forgot Apple ID" and then tap on "Set up later in settings". This will let you skip signing into your account and will let you complete the set up process. You can then sign into your account through the settings app. This usually can happen due to a network problem. If it continues then I would try some basic network troubleshooting.
