I just had this problem too and found the solution.

On the old iOS you were able to have mobile data switched off for Music but you were still able to play downloaded music. On the newer iOS you have to switch mobile data on, but don't worry you now have the option to choose exactly which kinds of music tasks you allow your mobile data to be used for.

So go to Settings > Music > Mobile Data then click the toggle so that the green shows.

When you do this you will see two more options appear below: 'Streaming' and 'Downloads' - just make sure both of those are off.

I assume Apple just needs the ability to use mobile data to verify your Apple Music membership.

You have posted in the Apple Music community.

You will have to validate you have an active and paid subscription before streaming Apple Music or listening to music you have downloaded for offline listening. Same as other streaming services.

With Apple Music, you are not paying for your music. You are paying for a subscription to listen to music.

Once that is validated, via a data connection, the music will play.

Hey d.q.c,

I understand that you are getting a message when trying to play some songs in Apple Music stating that the content is not authorized.

You can try the steps listed below to see if that helps out: Access your music collection on all of your devices with Apple Music

If you're missing or can't play music
