My iMovie icon is greyed out, and cannot launch (it says it is Paused.... I've used successfully for almost a year... why is it Paused? And how do I un pause? thank you.
IMAC (RETINA 5K, 27-INCH, LATE 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.6)
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences. Then do what pcbjr posted.

Have you tried moving the iMovie plist from your Home Library, Preferences, to the trash, and then restarting the computer and then trying iMovie?
I tried putting "greyed out" iMovie plist (from my LAUNCH) into trash.... no go... so I opened Applications, and clicked on iMovie plist... ta DA!!!!!! so thank you!
I will follow this instruction to see if I can give bum's rush to the iMovie icon in LAUNCH..... (came that way when I bought iMac..) Thank you!
