Photo app - create a map

I am trying to create a map of my travels in a photos app book. My pictures do not have location info as my camera does not have GPS. All the info I find in google is for iPhoto. How can I do this in Photos? I want to add locations ie NYC, Boston, LA, Seatle and link them with lines.

In Photos you can add location markers on a map, but it is no longer possible to link the places with a line. This feature has been dropped. You would have to print the page with the location markers to PDF, then add the arrows between the places in Preview or another graphics editor.

Then import the finished map again to Photos.

This Help page explains how to add places markers to a book page in Photos: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.2/?lang=en#/pht245fde94

To edit the location to a photo , open the Info panel and type the name of a place or an address into the location field of the Info panel, or, if you know the exact latitude and longitude, type the latitude and longitude in degrees into this field, see: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.2/?lang=en#/phta4e5a733f

Location: Enter a location in the Location field. As you type, Photos suggests locations that you can choose. To change a location, you can search for a different location or change the location by dragging a pin on the map. To remove location information that you assigned manually to a photo, delete it or choose Image > Location, then choose Remove Location or Revert to Original Location. You can’t assign a location if your computer is not connected to the Internet.

But the photos do not need to have locations assigned to add places markers on a map page of a photo book. See the section "Add, remove, and rename place markers on a map" on this Help page: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.2/?lang=en#/pht245fde94

The map in Photos is created automatically based on image geotag info. Without GPS encoded, there's nothing for Photos to use and it does not allow for manual map line markups.

Find a nice map graphic, annotate it in another app (even Preview will do) then import into Photos and use just like any other image.

That depends on undisclosed information

Some version of Photos can add locations to photos and some can not - what version of he OS and of Photod do you have?

Photos so far does not offer the "route lines that iPhoto did so that is not currently an option

If you stay up to date and have iPhoto 9.6.1 you can make your map with lines in it and print the page to PDF and include in a Photos book or you can order your book with iPhoto
