No progress @ downloading additional components

I have an iMac that froze up. I used disk utility and repaired and verified. Next, I went back to reinstall OS X and installed that. However, the screen is stuck at downloading additional components, computer will restart when finished. There is zero movement in the progress bar even if it is left on for hours. I do not have the original disk as this is refurbished. I dont know what else to do really. I got online here soley by clicking get help online. I did not have anything in Time machine.

I am basically out of suggestions. If you are using Wi-Fi to download, see if you can attach the computer to the router using Ethernet.

If you have access to another Mac computer, if you have previously downloaded Yosemite, try downloading Yosemite from the App Store using your Apple ID. Quit the installer. You can make a bootable USB stick to install using this free program which will do all the work for you. See if you can install from that after erasing the disk.
