TechTool email alerts

I have been "chatting" with TechTool Pro people at MicroMat for a few days and they don't seem to understand at all the problem. They keep saying talk to my email provider??? I have tried avery variation and port number but no luck and, yes, I've been using the programme for a number of years I have never been able to get alerts.

I assume there must be a lot of happy TechTool people out there, can anyone help with some details about what to enter in the TechTool preferences?

You may need to use an application-specific password for your iCloud email account password in the TechTool Protection settings in System Preferences.

Ref: Using app-specific passwords - Apple Support

The following settings worked for me:

  • E-mail Address: [enter your iCloud email address here]
  • SMTP Server: smtp.mail.me.com
  • Port Number: 587
  • Use SMTP Authentication (checked)
  • Use SSL/TLS (checked)
  • SMTP Account: [enter the part of your email address to the left of the @]
  • Password: [enter the app-specific password from the link above]

Click on "Send Test E-mail." If successful, you should receive an email to your email address.

Try running this program in your normal account, then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. On the screen with Options, please open Options and check the bottom 2 boxes before running. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy Report” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown.
