There is a metal button that guides both the toggle head plug and the

replacement long extension cord into position; and that's also ground.

As stated, note the corner of the magsafe adapter has only one way

it may possibly slide off and press carefully but with considered force

to make it slide off the metal button. The extension cord replaces it.

If you mean how to connect the extension cord to the power adapter, the little square "block", with the two prongs on it, on one corner of the power adapter, slides out (very hard) and then you connect the extension cord the reverse of how the pronged block came out.
