usb tethering to surface pro 3

How can I resolve the issue of tethering my iPhone 6s to my Surface Pro 3 via USB? I don't want to use WIFI or bluetooth due to security and health concerns. When I connect them via USB and touch "Allow" on iPhone, SP3 recognizes the device and shows it in its list of connected devices but nothing else happens and there are no other options that I can see. I've searched on google but nothing has helped thus far. I would greatly appreciate your response.

I take what I said back... I re-read the article and followed the link to learn more about personal hotspot. I missed that the first time. I found the section as it related to connecting with PC. I will update my iTunes and see if that helps and report back.

bluetooth transmit with 1 milliwatt your iphone6s maybe around 3 watts that is 300 times stronger signal so don't think you can say health concerns is such big issue

In regards to your security concerns, you do realize that it is an encrypted signal. Also, what part of rudegar's post is not helpful, the statement about Bluetooth, or the support document? The support document contains all the information necessary for using Personal Hotspot. Your touching Allow, is that for trusting your computer? If so, that has nothing to do with Hotspot. Do you have Personal Hotspot turned on? If it is connecting to the computer, you should see a blue bar at the top of the home screen on the iPhone.

Possibly I am in the wrong place. This has more to do with the surface pro than the iphone side. I can easily make this work with my macbook or iMac. I know how it works on the iphone side which is why that article is not helpful.

Then you should probably be asking in Microsoft's forums if you're unable to get it to work.

As far as the 'health' concerns go, there is no health concern here. Claims to the contrary are based on junk science.

I just tested my iPhone 7 again with Personal Hotspot and connecting to my HP laptop with Windows 7. Turn Personal Hotspot on, then connect the iPhone to the computer via USB-Lightning cable. The computer should recognize the phone and ensure the correct drivers are loaded. This includes the driver necessary for Ethernet. Watch the phone screen, and you should see the blue bar appear on the top of the screen when it connects. Make sure that Personal Hotspot is turned on first, and you do not have your Surface connected to your wi-fi network. Does the Surface have an Ethernet connector to connect to other Ethernet networks? If it doesn't, then it is possible it will not connect in that manner and would need to connect via wi-fi only.
