Messenger access to photos in ipad

I just recently discovered that i cant access any of my photos in my messenger app. When i tap on the photo item in my messenger it says go to ipad settings and select photo in messenger or allow photo in messenger or something. Then when i'm already in messenger settings, Only location, banners and background app refresh is there. How to solve this?

iPad Pro Wi-Fi, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Check Settings > Privacy > Photos.

My photos are no longer avail in messenger since the last upgrade, I tried your recommendation but no luck.

I thought it was me. My iphone 10 also tells me to allow in settings....IT IS!

Since the OS 11 upgrade I am unable to attach photos from phone to messenger, am I alone ?
