I wish to download this older operating system on a very old laptop. I'm not able to do the latest OS on the computer. Where can I find it?

If you can run Mountain Lion, you can run El Capitan.
Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite/El Capitan.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
