Final Cut Pro Rendering Stuck

Hello,

I'm working in a less than responsive final cut pro 10.3.3 that also has a rendering issue on top of choppy playback when trying to scrub the clips in the browser. So the rendering issue is that it seems to be stuck and I can't stop it, there are no x to click to stop rendering. *see photos. I've deleted all of the render files, trashed preferences many times now, I turned off "background render" in the preferences, re-started the computer, did a PRAM reset but still getting slow playback and choppy playback in the browser and mentioned. So, when I go to close the program says "cancelling background tasks"...I've let this go now for some time, but now it is causing issues with the program running smoothly.

I also recently added ram from 8GB to 24GB.

Thank you for your help!

To which hard drive is FCPX rendering? And how much room is left on the drive?

You're hard drives needs more than 10% free space (by size) in order to function properly (the OS does low level stuff like "paging", file management, etc...). Rendering would definitely get hung up in that.

Also, have you applied any complex titles or generators to your project? I have at least one generator that takes about 20 minutes to render 10 seconds of media...

Thanks for your reply Fox_m...It's rendering to a 12tb G-Drive "Raid" set up for 6tb, and I've used just about 4 tb, so plenty of space. I have a handful of projects for one client and I keep adding more, and yes, I've used some titles and plug-ins, mattes, color correction, audio plugins. I'm not sure why it keeps trying to render and I can't turn it off, even after turning off background rendering and clearing all render files. I'm stumped?

My question would be what "Loading" means. Is there an template/effect that requires some kind of default media that perhaps has been moved, or if there were permission problems and FCPX thinks it's not allowed to open and import that template media.

All template/effects types have the same format: a .mo(xx) file*, a large.png, a small.png (thumbnails) [optionally, a .mov may be included] and a Media folder. Media required by the effect will be stored in these folders.

[* .moef = effect; .motn = generator; .moti = title; .motr = transition]

You could try turning off generators (plug-ins) and titles (select the clip and type V to toggle disable/enable) and rendering. If everything renders easily, turn them back on one at a time until you find the one that hangs. If, with all titles/generators turned off it still hangs, turn off the audio plug-ins next. Etc... (I don't suspect the audio plug-ins unless they might be 3rd party.)

See if you can isolate the culprit, then we'll work on it from there.
