disable horizontal scrolling

I want to know how to disable horizontal scrolling for wired mouse (with small roller ball) on Sierra and El Capitan. (Solutions are offered for bluetooth drivers, magic mouse, and older OSes, but they are not applicable and don't work.)

iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

This is nice. But is there a similar solution for the Magic Mouse/2 in Sierra?

Sierra seems to make the mouse much more sensitive to very slight horizontal movement when clicking on things, often making it difficult to perform the intended action. MagicPrefs will allow you to disable only horizontal scrolling, but at this point MagicPrefs is quite old and seems to present its own problems.

There is also a defaults command which apparently disabled horizontal scrolling in pre-sierra OS's, but doesn't work in Sierra.

Any other solutions?
