Tested iPhone 7 water resistance and now my phone is damaged

After hearing about the iPhone 7's IP67 water resistance, I decided to test it myself. According to the rating of iP67, the phone can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water for a maximum of 30 minutes, but anything over that may cause permanent damage to the phone. I dipped the phone in barely a foot of water for about 3 seconds. When i took it back out, it seemed fine at first, but soon after, my home button stopped working completely. Later on, the front camera became blurry and there were water marks behind the screen. The phone, after 3 days now, has started becoming very buggy and hard to use. It is clearly damaged, but what should I do now? I know water damage isn't under warranty, but is this not false advertising by Apple? How can they claim the phone has an iP67 rating when it does not live up to those standards. Would I be correct in saying this is Apple's fault or I have a faulty product? I really don't think i should have to pay for an out of warranty repair for something the manufacturer claimed I was able to do. Any help or advice is apprec

avelic,

According to: http://help.apple.com/iphone/10/#/iphbbe12ba1

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are splash, water, and dust resistant and were tested under controlled laboratory conditions with a rating of IP67 under IEC standard 60529. Splash, water, and dust resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. Liquid damage not covered under warranty. To prevent liquid damage, avoid the following:

  • Swimming or bathing with iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus
  • Exposing iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus to pressurized water or high velocity water, such as when showering, water skiing, wake boarding, surfing, jet skiing, and so on
  • Using iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus in a sauna or steam room
  • Intentionally submerging iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus in water
