I would advise that you never download flash from any other source than Adobe.

Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions is the proper link to use.

Messages which you might see that are generated by your operating system will be presented as outlined in: Adobe Flash Player updates available for macOS on November 1, 2016 - Apple Support

In other words, however you are notified, only go the Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions link.

Edit: You may also want to consider Downloading/Installing/Running Malwarebytes for Mac to help get rid of any Malware you may have inadvertently installed.

I had downloaded Flash from a site that was probably not Adobe. Then I started getting messages that my startup disk was full and the ensuing crashes- then all my passwords, which normally populate, disappeared. I have and use Malwarebytes, but it detected no problems when I scanned my system. I do have a recent backup, but am on vacation and it is at home. Should I resist putting in my passwords until I can use my backup? Why wouldn't Malwarebytes detect the virus-thing?
