Audio and video out of sync

I recently downloaded some videos onto my macbook pro from a camera. Upon viewing the footage on the camera, the media was perfect, but the then when editing in iMovie, I found that the audio and video were out of sync and the audio cut three quarters through the footage. I had deleted the footage off my camera so I could not redownload the footage. However, I filmed another shot, viewed it on the camera and noticed it was right, downloaded it onto my mac and it is out of sync. (The videos are also out of sync on Quicktime Player too). Is there anyway to fix this? I'm quite desperate, someone please help me

Audio sync problems can be pesky, for sure. All you can do is try a few things.

Try sharing out the audio clip and see if the sync issue persists in the shared movie.

Try putting the clip into a newly created project and see if the issue remains.

You can try detaching the audio in iMovie, so it is a separate clip, and see if you can manually adjust it to sync. Expand out your timeline fully to make it easier to make fine adjustments.

You might also try adjusting the sample rate of the audio in Handbrake. 44.1 would make the audio slower, 48 would make it faster.

Another possibility is to stretch or shrink the detached audio clip using the free download, Audacity. You might want to take a look at this thread regarding use of Audacity:

Good luck with this.
