Was face timing England from Canada. NeithEd of us had sound but both had video. Tried rebooting iPads. Plus switching FaceTime off and on again. I also tried using earphones as read that could be issue. Nothing worked.

swipe up from the bottom of the screen this will slide in control centre.
Make sure the mute switch isn't on (looks like a bell between "Do Not Disturb" and "Orientation Lock".
If the bell is white in a red circle, mute is on, tap it to change it to black bell with gray background.
Also, press the volume up button, to make sure volume isn't all the way down.
No sound On FaceTime.
