I have tried installing iTunes 12 on my surface Pro 4 with win 10.
There is an error in the installer when running as an administrator.
I have restarted the machine
deleted x re-downloaded the itunes installer (250 mb).
None of this helps.
Ideas?

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Right-click on the setup file and run the installer as administrator. It may also help to pre-install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. In some cases you may also need to temporarily disable any anti-virus software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

however this still doesn't work.
I have completely removed the iTunes elements. Nevertheless the some error occurs. that the installer is indeed installer but has encountered an error and the system has not been modified.
The version of iTunes detected is:
iTunes 12.6.2 for Windows (64-bit)
This is a Surface Pro 4 i5 running Windows 10 Pro 1607
Any further ideas?

sorry I am using the Surface and there are quite a few mistakes but hope it is clear enough!
