I am a teacher who is trying to wirelessly mirror my iPad Air 2 to a projector. The projector only has a VGA input, and projects to a smartboard. Is it possible to use AppleTV with an hdmi to vga adapter to cast my iPad? If not, what other other options do I have to wirelessly project my screen as I move around my classroom?

Yeah, that should work fine. My teacher always used to use his Apple TV in class connected to a projector, it would just use the standard sources on the projector.
You will just need a HDMI to VGA cable or adapter if the projector does not use HDMI.

I was at a school that used AppleTV and that worked, although for just mirroring your iPad it may be overkill.
At present we use AirServer, and that seems to work fine - just need to put it on the PC/mac that is currently connected to the Smartboard.
