Is it safe to use vpn ?

Hello!

I'm using a vpn called ExpressVPN. I was wondering if it's safe to use a vpn since it changes some of your network settings?

Thanks,

PS:dangerous as in if it would make the apple product( iPhone or iPad ) slower or just make them vulnerable to threats.

The whole point of a VPN is to make any device less vulnerable to threats by providing an encrypted private connection. However, when using any third party public VPN, the question is, how well do you trust the VPN provider?

If they are a reputable provider, then you should be fine. However, many of the free or very inexpensive public VPN provider’s do sell your contact information to advertisers and such. So research your VPN provider, read their privacy policy and so forth and make sure you’re comfortable with them. As with any subscriber internet service, you need to do your own research to be comfortable and confident of your chosen service provider.

It may or may not. We can not offer you advice on how to break or circumvent the laws of the country you happen to be in.

A VPN may or may not even be usable in China as they block many VPN services. Keep in mind that by attempting to use one, authorities may very well be alerted to the fact that you are doing so and my be able to locate you via the device you're using to do so.

Exactly.

Beyond that, no, a VPN should not affect the actual functionality of the device, but depending on their own infrastructure it may or may not slow down your internet access. As you are routing all your internet traffic through the VPN provider's servers, if they are not up to the task it may slow down your browsing considerably.

The question is, why do you believe you need a VPN at this point? Why are you using one? If you do not trust the VPN provider to keep your data secure, then there's no benefit in using a VPN.
