Does restoring a MacBook Air to Factory Reinstall the Newest OS

Greetings!

I have a mid-2013 MacBook Air that I want to restore to factory settings (removing all my info) and reinstall the OS afresh. My question is, when I reinstall the OS, will the newest OS (Sierra) be installed? Or will it install the default iteration that came with the MacBook originally.

Thanks!

MacBook Air, macOS Sierra (10.12.6)

Hi,

To download and reinstall macOS on your startup disk use macOS Recovery (Command-R), which reinstalls the macOS version that was last installed on your Mac, Sierra.

If you want the original OS that came with your Mac, use Shift-Option-Command-R at startup, which reinstalls the macOS that came with your Mac, or the version closest to it that is still available.

Make sure you have a backup, as you always should.
