I have and iPhone 6s and have been plaqued with Carplay problems on my aftermarket Kenwood system. Basically I've had a year of almost zero functionality with the unit. I have worked tirelessly with the dealer on troubleshooting and we have determined that the issue is likely with my phone. I've had versions ranging from 9 through 10.3.3, and none have worked. I have tried everything I read on various forums to no avail. I basically have bought a product with no value to me. I will certainly never purchase a carplay unit again, but I would like Apple to step in and help me troubleshoot this problem, maybe salvage something at this point. It's difficult to troubleshoot because it is so inconsistent. Last week all I got was a black screen when I connected, and then yesterday it worked perfectly for 45 minutes. Then I disconnected and reconnected, and the graphics were zoomed in and unresponsive. Then I got it to play music again, but it "skipped".
I've tried different chords, the installer changed the USB connections for me,I've turned off apps, unpaired the phone, turned units off and on and off and on again. I've done it all and nothing helps consistently. We've tried other phones, and they seem to work just fine. So it's my phone. I think I have even wiped my phone once, but I can't remember. If not, I can try that, but I don't really want to. Anyway, I have a feeling it is some ridiculous setting on the phone that just needs changed. Apple, can you provide any info on the secret to making CarPlay work consistently, or at all?

Any chance you use Apple Music?
If you do, try disabling it and see if it makes things better. Many of the issues I have had and continue to have seem to stem from Apple Music and specifically having a large Apple Music library.
I concur, after upgrading to iOS 10.3.3 CarPlay doesn't work. pressing icons on the screen causes them to dim as thoguh they're being pressed but nothing happens, I have to interact with the app on the iPhone screen.
This is only after upgrading to iOS 10.3.3.
Even tried restoring the iPhone from iCloud backup, did not help
Similar problem, except since I upgraded to iOS 11.0.3, my iPhone 7 has been losing its connection frequently. After having called Honda, they indicated it has become a "known issue" with iOS 11 that there is a problem. When will it be rectified?
Well, I believe the ios upgrade is just coincidence, car play stops working on my 2018 Accord regularly, the only solution is to reset to manufacturer settings via settings - system... It works again after that for a week or so and crashes again...
