Does the new MacBook Pro (2017) have a 4K display?

Hey guys,

I have the following "quality" questions (pun intended) which I would really appreciate help with:

1. First, I recently bought the newest MacBook Pro, with the updates that there announced on the latest WWDC and I was wondering whether this MacBook has a 4K display?

2. Second, if the MacBook Pro does have a 4K display, how can I know whether, and when I am watching in 4K, both images and videos? For the videos, it is easier because if the video was taken in 4K, I can know that if my MacBook has this resolution, I will be automatically be watching it in 4K, right?

3. Finally, if a video is of a quality higher that what a device supports, would the user be able to watch this high quality? For instance, watching a 5K video on YouTube on an iPhone 4 does not mean that the video will actually be displayed as 5K, due to inability of the iPhone to support such a high quality, right? If so, is this the same case with photos?

I'd really appreciate your help! Thanks!

4k resolution is 3840 x 2160 px. The Macbook Pro has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 (at 227 pixels per inch) - so not 4k. However you aren't really going to see any difference on a 13 inch screen.

Videos and images with a higher resolution than the screen will be scaled to fit it. Obviously if the original would have more than 227 pixels per inch when displayed, the screen can't show them and will have to adapt the image to the available pixels.
