Charger cable plug loose

Hi all,

The charger cable that came with my late 2016 Macbook Pro 15 has developed a very loose fit in the computer socket, regardless of what cable end I use. In the charger, however the fit is still very good and it clicks and slots in firmly. The fit in the computer is now so loose that just the weight of the cable is sometimes enough to break away contact.

Is this a common issue? I have bought the Apple 1m and 2m USB-C to Lightning cables as well and the fit is very good and feels very different, slotting in just nicely and firmly into the computer. The plugs are noticeably of a different design.

It appears Apple has two different USB-C plug designs around, a thicker one that comes with the charger cable and a thinner one that comes in the lightning cables that attach and hold the connection much better.

Hi there, laalves911.

It appears that the charging cable that came with your MacBook Pro isn't fitting tightly in the USB port. I recommend having your MacBook Pro and cables evaluated.
