First backup everything.

Then either delete files that are no longer needed or move them to external disk storage.

Once you know the copy on the external storage is working then and only then delete the original on the internal storage.

If you haven’t yet done so, backup in case you delete something you wish you hadn't. Then use one or more of the following to see exactly where your space is being used, then transfer/delete larger files until you reach the desired free space level; do not transfer/delete anything unless you're sure of what it is, and not something the OS needs:
