I just updated to 10.12.6 and now my external hard drive is "read only" by my MacBook Air. It worked fine before the update. How do I fix this?!

This is how permissions are setup on my external HD. If yours is different, you can try my settings. To get to them, click once on the HD's icon on your desktop > hold down the command key and press the i key > click on the lock and enter your password to allow you to make changes.

It worked for me on my MacBook Pro and Seagate external drive connected via USB.

Both my externals don't allow me to update the permissions since the update. Any ideas?

I have same issue. Spent time on phone with Seagate and they indicate it may be a Mac issue. Have you managed to change permissions?

Try to Shut Down your computer and went you turn-on your HD will be ok write-read, this happen to me too and after shut down they were ok.

I shut down my computer and after turn on again my Hdisks were ok
