I can't get text message forwarding to work on my iPad again. I had to reset my iPhone due to it constantly rebooting, so I lost my settings for text message forwarding. I'm trying to set it up again, and I keep getting:

To send and receive your iPhone text messages from "1-xxx-xxx-xxxx" on this iPad, enter the code "(null)" on your iPhone now.

I never get a code, just null over and over.

I've reset iMessage on both iPhone and iPad. Timezones are the same. Send and receive is pointed to my Apple ID and my phone number. I've powered off and on both devices. I still get this problem. How can I resolve it?

I'm quit sure you have resolved this issue by now, but for anyone who has recently received this problem then do the following. Simply go to your ipad and send a message from SMS text. You should get a failure to send message. Then go back to your iphone , then to settings>Messages>Text Message Forwarding and move the toggle switch to on again. This time you should get an actual code on your ipad to enter on your iphone. For some reason this resets the handshake between the ipad and iphone and actaully allows a code to come through.
