Funny, I've never even tried Logic's pitch corrector, but I've been using both A/T and Melodyne with Logic, and I've used A/T for more than 5 years in Protools.

If the Logic plugin was as good, then nobody would be buying the other two products now would they? I excuse myself from this since I'm pretty new to Logic, but many people very familiar with Logic still buy them. There must be a reason.

I CAN tell you that Melodyne can do things you can't even dream about with Logic's built in plugin. That's not really even a slam. Celemony and Antares specialize in plugins. They HAVE to do it better or no one would buy.

It's my experience, that Logic's pitch correction does work, but best results come from a vocal that is already "close" enough.

The harder it has to work to intonate, the more obvious it's being used, and the more likely the results will be unsatisfactory.

Logic's pitch correction is similar in concept to Auto Tune's manual mode. AT seems to be a little more graceful, if that makes sense.

But Auto Tune has a graphic mode, which allows manual manipulation of pitch, which Logic's does not.

Melodyne is kind of like the graphic mode in Auto Tune, on steroids. Actually, you really can't compare them. Melodyne allows SO much more control than AT.

If I have a bunch of vocal tracks that just need "guidance", I'll use Logic's, or Auto Tune. Using them lightly in manual mode is what they're best at, IMO.

So, if you need a slight bit of automatic manual correction, Logic's is fine.

If you need more control, AT is good.

If you want total control over pitch AND rhythm (timing), Melodyne is the on you want.
