LSD Errors in 10.12.6

This evening, 27 July, I installed the 10.12.6 update.

Immediately after the installation and the reboot, I noticed that my iMac Mid 2011 was running slower than before the installation.

Activity Monitor shows a process called "lsd" is using around 112% of the CPU power. Effectively one core of the i7 is fully occupied with this lsd process.

Console log shows the following:

This error is continuously being written to the log.

I can find nothing on the internet that would explain this error although there are discussions regarding lsd errors but not like this one.

Any help would be appreciated

lsd is the LaunchServicesDatabase.

You can try rebuilding lsd and see if it helps. Launch Terminal then copy & paste this command at the prompt: Be sure to copy the entire line, it is a scroll.

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain u -domain s -domain l -v

Then press Return and wait for the cursorl to return to the command line.

Thanks for the response.

I am currently running the EtreCheck, it's checking Hardware right now, and will post the results when it has finished.

Last night I left the iMac doing a full Time Machine backup, new SSD, and when I fired it up this morning the lsd errors had stopped!

However, at 7:49am, they restarted! Apparently during the EtreCheck run.

Log below:

EtreCheck version: 3.4.2 (436)

Report generated 2017-07-28 07:46:47

Download EtreCheck from https://etrecheck.com

Runtime: 5:34

Performance: Below Average
