Time machine not showing on new macbook pro

I had time machine running on my ols macbook air. Bought a new macbook pro, clean install, ant attaching the old time machine drive, it's not showing on new machine. I can only access the old files via finder. what went wrong??

Aperture 3, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

but never fear, there is a way to "take over" your previous backups:

Time Machine has been pretty stable since the time he stopped writing. Almost all of his recommendations still apply, except the screen items may have been moved around a little.


He was not able to comment on later versions of MacOS due to his untimely death. A few of his friends here on the Apple Forums and his family are working together to keep his writings online.
