PhotoShop--renting or buying...??

Does anyone know if I can obtain a Photoshop program that will work on Sierra? I can't tell if Sierra will ONLY work with Adobe's new cloud-rental system or not, or which Photoshop version will, or *if* it will. For example, I purchased Lightroom a couple of years ago for Mavericks. It works on Sierra. Adobe will only let me "rent" Photoshop with Lightroom--- I can't rent just Photoshop by itself. Therefore, I'd be paying for Lightroom when I already have it. Plus, I would like to buy Photoshop just once, to own it, like I do Lightroom. For that matter, ditto for InDesign and Acrobat. I'm willing to buy these in disk form at, say, eBay, but I need to know which versions will (and if they will) work with Sierra. Thanks for any info you can give me.

All the last version should work as should the current versions. Must you use all the Adobe products? There may be good substitutes that you can own.

The MS Office 2016 suite can be purchased for a $139/single user, I believe. I don't think Adobe has a similar arrangement.

Hi HalfATechie! FWIW I bought Photoshop CS6 (version 13.0.6 x64) in full-price disk form in December 2014, and it still works fine on my iMac with the current version of Sierra, 10.12.6. I was told at the time that this was the last disk version of PS, but have no idea if this is correct! And I can´t remember what I paid for it, but do remember it was very, very expensive, and I had to buy an Apple Drive to install it on my brand new iMac! I don´t know what I´ll do if my PS doesn't work with future versions of macOS, but I certainly won´t get involved with Adobe´s rental policy.

As my photo editing needs are thankfully quite simple I´ll probably have a look at Affinity or Pixelmator, to name just two alternatives to Photoshop. This would be a pity, as I´ve been using PS for over 20 years!

And Apple Photos editing features are becoming more varied and powerful. I´m just starting to tinker with them, as I use Photos for all my photos. But not everybody likes Apple Photos...

I´m sure you´ll be able to find a disk version of PS on eBay or wherever. Good luck! Cheers, Ian

Thank you Ian-- I have Lightroom, too, but would like to keep using PhotoShop also, on my Sierra OS. I'm used to it and I'm pretty sure it does some things that Lightroom does not. I will keep looking. I appreciate your reply.

If you are considering other Photo editing products, be certain to check out Affinity Photo. I purchased it a few months ago, and have been very impressed with the App. Check out some of the many tutorials available to see what can can be done with Affinity.
