Wifi drops when phone is locked after 10.3.3 update

Wifi drops when phone is locked or goes to idle and reconnect when screen is on.

This happens after the last ios update.

Model :iphone 5.

iPhone 5, iOS 10.3.3

This is not anecdotal. I have been testing it with every iOS release. Nothing has changed. Here is how to actually test it:

On your phone go to Settings/Wi-Fi and tap on the i next to the network name
Write down the IP address
On your computer open a Terminal window (Mac) or CMD window (Windows)
Enter "ping <the IP address you wrote down>" (Mac) or "ping /t <the IP address you wrote down>" (Windows)
Note the phone responding to the ping command
Press the SLEEP button
Watch as the responses stop after about 30 seconds
To stop the pings enter <CTRL>+C.

Every time a major version is released I do this again. The response has never changed in 10 years.

Repeat the test with the phone plugged in; it won't go to sleep. It may wake up for a few seconds if the phone receives a notification such as a Push email alert, which is an external stimulus, but apps that originate communications will not wake it and will use cellular data.

Thank you for that information, I have the same security and network settings.

But I get Auto-Login and surprisingly for me I get it on every network I join to.

I think this feature shows up for certain types of Routers for some reason I am still deducing.

I am gonna try to get to the bottom of this.

I also requested Apple to create a documentation regarding this.

Also can you please state the router you are using?

Like i said i tried all possible obvious tricks and no luck yet. Reset twice and still the same issue wont go away.

Sounds like you tried everything.

Maybe Apple Genius bar will have other ideas

I can confirm on iPhone 6 plus running iOS 10.3.3 wifi doesn't drop when the device is locked.

The only time I would expect the device to drop Wifi when it's locked is in low power mode.

May be its an issue with iOS 10.3.3. on 32 bit devices. One of my friend also experiencing wifi drops.

Issue is still there. No luck so far. Sometimes its ok. I tried playing with different wifi bands, disabled auto lock but the connection disconnects when locked.

I believe it is an issue with 10.3.3 because I had same issue after upgrading to it

ios 10.3.3 contains some major wifi security fixes. May be it have some glitches in 32 bit devices. Thats what i believe. Which model is yours?
