Confused about AppleCare+

So I cracked my Iphone7 plus screen and it says here that I have to pay a $29 fee to fix it but when I bought the phone I was told that AppleCare would do it for free and I pay for AppleCare monthly so I am just confused about how AppleCare works if I’m not getting my screen fixed for free so what’s the whole point of it?

Hi

If you were told that AppleCare+ would provide for free screen replacements, then I'm afraid that you were misinformed.

In addition to extending the warranty period (covering any issues that may arise due to defects in materials or workmanship) and the telephone technical support period, AppleCare+ also provides cover for up to two instances of accidental damage.

For each case of accidental damage, a service fee applies. The service fee is either $29 for screen damage or $99 for any other damage (plus applicable tax).

Even if you are currently paying for AppleCare+ monthly, these service fees per accidental damage claim still apply in addition.
