Garageband - where is legacy?

Hi,

Sorry in advance for asking a similar questions already asked.

But I recently began using Garageband 10 for the first time on Mac with El Capitan. While some users in the internet showed that they use "legacy" to change their voice, I cannot find "legacy" in my Garageband 10.

Based on some posts, it seems that the older version has it but current GarageBand does not.

Could you please tell me if there are any ways to use "legacy" on GarageBand 10? Actually, I would like to use male voice and female voice for output on other application.

Thank you

You cannot buy the Legacy instruments separately. You would need to purchase an iLife '11 installer from amazon and install the older GarageBand. It would be rather expensive.

Did you already download the complete sound library for GarageBand 10 from Apple?

You can do in GarageBand that from the menu "GarageBand > Sound Library > Download all available sounds".

All the predefined voice patches in "legacy" do is adding plug-ins and changing the settings for the plug-ins. So you could use the vocal patches coming with GarageBand 10, for example "natural Vocal", add plug-ins, fine tune them.

For example, a basic "Female vocal" from GarageBand '11 is set like this:

Or are you asking how to transform Male voices to female voices and female voices to male voices?

Then you need to add avocal transformer plug-in. You will find it in the "Pitch" section of the available plug-ins.User uploaded file

If you download the complete sound library for GarageBand 10, you will find a patch with a Vocal Transformer plug-in - it is in the Library in "Vocals > Experimental > Deeper Vocal".

The "Legacy" section is for older patches, leftovers from older versions, andwill only show, if you previously had an older GarageBand version (GarageBand 6.0.5 or older) or Logic or the JamPacks installed. The Legacy section will show the instruments from this older versions, if you did not uninstall them completely when you upgraded to GarageBand 10.

Hi leonie,

Thank you for your advice, I could successfully used garageband 10 to change my voice to male voice and other funny voice.

As there is a small lag between my own voice and a changed voice, could you please tell me if you know any ways to solve the lag, especially when I speak with some app, like Skype?

Thanks
