How to save an iMessage sticker ?

Hello,

I was wondering whether a simple thing is feasible or not : is it possible to retrieve (by any way, like sending by mail, or retrieving using iTunes) an iMessage sticker, to store it as the animated gif on the computer ?

I have an iPad running iOS 10.2, as well as an iPhone 4S running iOS 9.3.5, but unfortunately, I don't own a Mac.

Thanks in advance for all the support you can provide !

Thanks for your reply 🙂

I'm having an issue trying to follow those steps... When I hold my finger on the animated sticker, there are several options : give a heart, give a thumbs up/down, give a laugh, give a !! or ?

On the bottom, two buttons appear : left one is to access the iMessage app, and right one is called "Options", but only selects the sent message... Could this be a too old iOS problem ?

Yes it is possible but it is quite tricky, follow these steps please:

  • Send any GIF using imessage to any contact
  • Once sent hold your thumb on sent GIF and tap on copy.
  • compose email and paste it in the email body.
  • once sent open the email, right click on GIF and save on your desktop/laptop.
  • Right click on the saved GIF file and select open with then select any browser to see the animated version.

Please note that GIF will only animate when you see it into any browser otherwise it will looks like a still image.
