default.profraw File in OSX Sierra

It comes from your "CleanMyMac 3", you can't delete it unless you uninstall "CleanMyMac 3", all you need to do is opening the Terminal and enter "sudo chflags hidden /default.profraw", maybe that's the best way and it won't show up again.

Concerning CleanMyMac 3, this is the answer of MacPaw support:

"Hello! CleanMyMac doesn't create this files.

Somehow it is created when you use xCode, so it may re-appear after the restart indeed."

So, about one week ago, I've deleted this file using Terminal command : sudo chflags hidden /default.profraw and, at the moment, this file does'nt more appear.

Re-run CleanMyMac. It will appear again. FYI that terminal command does not delete a file, it simply hides the file. To delete a file in terminal you would use `rm path/to/file.txt`

CleanMyMac has said they will fix the problem next update, from what I've read.

sudo chflags hidden /default.profraw

Hi John, it's really very simple action:

- Launch the Terminal App in Applications-->Utility-->Terminal

- at prompt, type exactly sudo chflags hidden/default.profraw and hit return.

- if requested, insert Your user password, hit return again and the file disappear.

- You've done.

I have not updated to Sierra yet, still El Capitan for my medium 2009 Macbook, but today this exact same file appeared on my HD right after an update of CleanMyMac. When moving it to trash I was asked for my user password. That appears to have worked. It's gone for now anyway. From what I've gathered so far it's harmless. In my case it was 14 KB in size.

Most posters recommend not using cleaning programs. They can destroy normal computer operations.

I recently updated to 10.13 and this file popped up. I, too, use CleanMyMac (v3.9), CleanMyDrive 2, and multiple products from MacPaw. This file causes no harm or threat to your system.

I've same problem, but while using El Capitan (10.11.6).

I founded suspect that the file is a consequence of the latest "Security Update 2017-003"; because before that I did not see this file.

Now the question is: how can I do it to permanently eliminate it?

Your terminal command does NOT delete the file, it simply hides it. If you run `ls -la /` in Terminal it will still be there.

I think so too. It appeared on my Mac after an update of CleanMyMac. To delete it you'll need your admin password.

This does not appear to be limited to 10.12.6. I am also encountering this and it started just a week ago. I am running 10.11.6. I am curious as to how you got 10.12.6 as I have had no notice of any upgrade awaiting for 10.12.

Thanks for answering Sisto. Keeping in mind you are dealing with a user and not a technician by any means, please explain your process of using 'Terminal command: sudo chflags hidden/default.profraw.' I would really like to put this problem to bed.

I tried your remedy Sisto but it does not appear to do any good. It does not remove the file from my HD and, after moving to trash and have CleanMyMac securely erase it, it does not keep it from appearing again. Any other ideas?
