ipod does not work and i cant access my apple id

Help! I dropped my ipod touch 5 gen into the toilet and suprise! It doesnt work anymore. I tried logging into my apple id online to retrieve all the photos and i couldnt access it because i forgot my security access. So i dont think i can access my mail to reset them. Or can i?
