how do you make a full backup of ipad

Hi,

can anyone help please.

I'm having issues with my iPad Air, so would like to re-install the iOS .

Question, 'How do I make a Full backup of my iPad' ?

I've tried again via iTunes but it only does part ( file is only around 1Gb ).

My iPad has about 58 Gb used and i don't want to lose all of this ( books, music, App's Maps etc )

Any ideas please.

Or can I do just a re-install of the iOS without losing everything ? If so 'how'

Regards

Steve

The backup only contains your stuff: files, settings, scores, health data, etc. These last two, only if the backup is encrypted, meaning you have enabled and set a password for it. Apps, tunes, flicks, etc., get either synced in the iCloud, or stored elsewhere in the iTunes Library (which is different from the main backup file). Provided you have configured the device and iTunes to store or sync all the possible stuff on the phone, all will be preserved.

Personally, I prefer to store everything locally in the computer's hard drive with iTunes instead of cloudy best wishes. Everything remains under my control and Restore-ation proceeds faster since it is done at computer-drive-speeds, not dependent on networking vagaries.

Hi

Go to iCloud check iCloud back up is on Then backup now over your wifi

When you leave iCloud backup on when you charge an iphone / ipad it automatically backs up to iCloud Over your wifi.

If you want to restore ipad back to factory settings go down to reset then restore

Set back up over your wifi when it asks if you want to use iCloud backup Say yes to get your apps and data back.

You can do almost everything over your wifi without using your pc.

Cheers

Both an iCloud and an (encrypted) iTunes backups are full backups. Backup and restore in iOS is basically an all or nothing affair. Apps are not part of a backup and can/will be reinstalled from iTunes or the App Store itself. Similarly, iOS is not part of a backup as it can be restored at any time from Apple’s servers.

I keep up to date iCloud and encrypted iTunes backups. Redundancy and backups go hand in hand as far as I am concerned when it comes to securing data (I keep 3 redundant backups of my MacBook Pro as well).
