Right now the values are low. But i would hold on to any first gen ipad or ipod. These companies like gazelle and amazon are buying them up for many reasons including owning that commodity’s future market. Id say its safer to hold out and see what theyre worth in 25 yrs instead of selling the one time $700 device for $80 today. There are to many collectibles out there you had as a kid and wished you still had. Just my opinion tho. Good luck and hope it helps

While I agree with you to a certain extent.

They are cheap to purchase.

While no where near powerful enough for today's iOS games, an iPad 1 still has older productivity apps that stiil work with this iPad and can still share files back and forth to this iPad and other iDevices and computers, as well.

Also, streaming media services, like Netflix, Hulu, YouTube still work fine on this iPad model.

Also, the iPad 1 is THE ONLY iPad model thst can stream purchased iTunes movie/TV content froma remote external storage drive/device.

Many older apps still available for the 2010 iPad.

I have around 100 apps on my iPad 1.

I still get use out of my ole' 2010 iPad.

Still, a useful iDevice that can be had on the cheap!

Just my own opinion based on my own regular iDevice use habits.

Places like Gazelle, BrightStar (Apple’s recycling partner) and others will no longer even accept original model iPads for cash. If you pay to send it to them, many will recycle it for free. But the used resale value is so low they can no longer offer anyone anything for them and still make money themselves. Even parts demand isn’t enough to make that profitable. Same thing with older iPhones and non-Apple tablets and smart phones.

The simply reality with such old devices is that, unless you can find someone on your own to buy it, it’s used market value is $0. Remember that all of these companies that buy back old devices for resale or recycle are for profit companies - their comes a point (fairly rapidly) with technology where that business model is simply untenable with older devices.

I think that search term finds ALL wi-fi iPads, not just the first generation. Look at the eBay examples.

Besides, $160 for a first generation iPad, really? Out of curiosity, I checked "sold" prices directly on eBay and they were between $60-$160, which is astonishing. The only explanation I can think of is that buyers are unfamiliar with the various models and their ages and don't know what they're buying.
