Hi,
Is it possible to use a Windows 10 tablet/laptop, which has a micro HDMI connection as a second screen for my iMac?
If so, what would be the most effective and/or economical way of doing so?

You would need to check on a Windows forum. A common question that comes up is to use a Mac as a display for a Windows box. This is answered in Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support
OK thanks, I'll contact the manufacturer of my windows tablet. I'm going to assume that I would need a DisplayPort connection to hdmi and I can't see any reason why that wouldn't send the display from the iMac to the tablet however I'd like to be sure before splurging on the necessary cables/connectors.
