MacBook Air Screen Glitchy

Sorry. I apologize in advance for my structure of typing. I know it made me confusing. Anyway, here it goes:

So I was just literally watching TV and I put down my mac and plug it in laying it on my bed. Safari and Garageband were open, along with iTunes. About 15 minutes later, this weird glitch- edging from the top left of the screen, stretching to the top right of the screen appears. And a pink line goes down the middle of the Mac's screen. I would just like to know if anyone has any clue what this is, and if at all any way to fix it. Thank you. I was literally doing nothing, maybe it over heated? Maybe something hacked it? I am sorry I just do not know what the cause is or what it is in general. Can someone explain to me what this is and if there is a way to solve it. Thank you all and I appreciate your help.

Hi,

Given the heavy usage and no air flow from sitting on the bed where it shouldn't be, heat could affected things. Shut it down for 30 minutes or so and then try it out. If no luck, try booting into Safe Mode: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262 and see if the issue persists there.

If no luck, run Apple Hardware Diagnostics and see if it catches anything: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202731

Either way, I would bring the Mac to an Apple Store “genius” bar for a free diagnosis: https://support.apple.com/contact
