Gmail not syncing with notes app on Mac

Hi all. Couldn't find a Community regarding Gmail+Notes+Mac so "iCloud on my Mac" was the best I could do:

I just created a new Gmail account so I've been transferring everything over from my old Gmail to my new Gmail account, this includes changing the email associated with my iPhone/Mac's Apple ID, iCloud, etc. I found that the Notes app has not been syncing correctly between my Mac, iPhone, and my Gmail account (Note that the Notes app on my phone DOES sync perfectly between my phone and gmail).

I currently have my new Google account all set-up and have it set to Notes as it should.

However, opening my Notes app on my Mac, there is no folder associated with my gmail account, only my iCloud and locally stored notes:

When I check Notes from my OLD Google account in System Preferences > Internet Accounts, the OLD folder reappears:

In the past, new notes written on my iPhone would sync seamlessly to my Mac so I'm confused as to what is happening here as I would rather sync my notes through Gmail than iCloud.

Thanks for any help!
