how to connect locked watch to wifi

I found an Apple Watch which has been locked through "Find my iPhone." Documentation says that the phone can receive messages from the owner and send its location when it is connected through wifi. Since I found the watch at the bottom of a river at a popular vacation spot, I have no idea what wifi networks it will recognize. How can I connect the phone to a new wifi network while it is locked?

I suggest that you hand it in to the police, locally to where you found it.


Apple Watch can only connect to a compatible Wi-Fi network that the paired iPhone has connected to before, whilst the Apple Watch was connected to the iPhone via Bluetooth:
