The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)

When trying to export my project in FCPX in MPEG4 i get the following error message:-

The share operation “Master File” has failed.

The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)

I am using macOS Sierra V10.12.6 and FCPX V10.3.4

I am able to export the same project from my MacBook Pro in MPEG4, but not my iMac. The other apple formats do working on the iMac but just not MPEG4.

I have re-installed FCPX twice and still the same problem, I have also purchased compressor and I get the same issue with that (so wasted my money).

Please help as it is a pain having to keep jumping between the MacBook Pro and the iMac.

Hi Luis,

Thank you for responding so quickly!

I have just created a new 3 second movie with a still image (no video this time) and tried to export to MPEG4 and still get the same error.

Master File (default) settings are:-

Format - Computer

Video Codec - H.264 Faster Encode

Resolution - 1920 x 1080

Color space - Automatic

Audio File format - QuickTime Movie (AAC)

When done - Do nothing

Deleting and recreating this still fails.

The project settings are:-

Video - 1080p 1920x1080 24p

Apple ProRes 422

Standard Rec 709

Stereo 48khz

Hi Luis,

Just tried all 3 and same issue with a new user account - ok to export in non-mpeg, but mpeg is still erroring.

No you know if the export files are located in a different location to FCPX ? Maybe i can compare against my MacBook Pro?

I'd try deleting and redownloading FCP X.

Move Final Cut Pro to the trash (don't empty it just yet) open the App Store, log in with your Apple ID, click on Purchases then click the Download button next to Final Cut Pro.

If all is well you can empty the trash and use your new copy.

Great minds think alike - tried this last night - still get the same error after re-installing... Very strange 😕

Which is why is was wondering is the compression files are core to the mac and stored somewhere else not related to FCPX ?

After installing & trying Compressor - Compressor gives me the same error.....

I have the same problem. I have not been able to find the fix. It started when I updated to 10.12.6 on my Mac Pro. Luckily I didn't update my MacBook Pro and I can export successfully on that. So, I have to ingest and edit on one machine and then move the hard drives and go to another for the export. Man I wish I could easily roll back to 10.12.5.

Is a real pain having to swap between machines - I followed a suggestion regarding problems with Compressor but this didn't fix it either. I'm not sure it it's to do with anything extra i've install - FCPX plugins? - but i've installed these on both machines and have the problem on the iMac only.

I've also installed AutoPanoVideoPro and AutoPanoGiga - so maybe these are confilcting????

So, I have to do the same for the time being 😟 edit on iMac and export on the MacBookPro 😢

I believe something installed in the affected machine is causing the problem.

I am not familiar with the programs you mentioned.

As a shorter workaround you can share master file, select video and audio, and H264.

This creates a mov file. Then you can use MPEG Streamclip to Save As... and rewrap to mp4 (without any reencoding).

I got the problem fixed. But, it took a fresh install on my Mac Pro. Huge bummer since I ordered the machine the day of release. But, that dinosaur hums relative to my brand new maxed out MBP. Without the cruft, the whole machine seems to be running quicker.

What are the exact settings of your share?

Try deleting render files and deleting preferences.

A few things you can try:

1) delete preferences (if you did not already)

2) test with a new library

3) test from a different user account
