Is there a way to change APN on a T-Mobile iPhone 7 Plus

I have an iPhone 7 Plus registered on my T-Mobile network. I am trying to use an app that uses IPv4 addresses. The phone seems to only allow IPv6 communication with the T-Mobile network. If I use the personal hotspot over the T-Mobile network, I can use the app with an older iPad 4. However the iPhone 7Plus, connected to a wifi hotspot does work properly with the app. I have been told that the APN settings could be changed to allow IPv4 addresses. Unfortunately, T-Mobile does not allow changing APN settings on the iPhone. It does allow changes on Android devices.
