I want to connect my IPAD2 to do a software update. I do not own a computer but was looking to buy a Windows tablet

My IPAD2 will not update. I was told I have to connect to a computer which I do not own. I was going to buy a Windows tablet to do this update. I was looking at the Nuvision Windows tablet. All these tablets have micro usb ports but come with adaptors. I cannot get a solid yes or no if I can connect to my IPAD. I was also told I need an OTG converter. In the end I was told to contact Apple as to what to buy. Can someone please help me. I do not want a laptop only a tablet type device. All I want to do is update the software. What should I buy?

iPad 2, iOS 5.1.1

You need to make sure whatever device you buy can run iTunes and support external usb devices even if it is through an adapter. Which NuVision tablet were you thinking about specifically?

Beyond that can you not borrow a computer from someone to perform the update? Or at worst take the iPad to an Apple store and have them update it for you?

Any of the Windows tablets I would think could run iTunes. What I do not know is which one to buy that will work connecting my IPAD to it. The Nuvision one I was looking at is on Amazon. They sell several windows tablets. The one I was looking at comes with the adaptor. I was also told I may need a OTG adaptor. I just need someone to tell me what I can buy to do this update. I have no one to help me and I cannot get to an Apple Store. I am pretty much housebound.

Do you have a link for it the tablet you were looking at on Amazon? For it to work it needs to be running the full version of Windows 10. Some tablets run the cut down RT version which will not support iTunes.

This one looks like it might work.

Amazon.com : 2016 NuVision 8-inch Full HD (1920 x 1200) IPS Touchscreen Tablet PC, Intel Atom Z3735F Quad-Core Processor…

This one almost certainly will work:

Amazon.com : NUVISION 10.1-inch IPS Touchscreen 2-in-1 Tablet PC Windows 10, Intel Atom Cherry Trail X5-Z8300 Processor-…

I was looking at the 8 inch one. I don't know too much but I know you need the full version of windows. I did not want to spend 200- on a device that all I am buying it for is a software update. 80- seemed pretty reasonable and it looks like a nice tablet. The question now is what does "might work" mean? I want to make sure whatever I buy will definately work.

It means exactly that it may possibly work. I cannot guarantee it will work, since I don't actually own one.

Looking through the description, specs, and user questions below, it seems it is running the full Windows 10, so should be able to run iTunes, and does come with the adapter so presumably you should be able to connect the iPad to it for the update.

The problem is, there's no way to be 100% sure it will work, without actually owning it, and trying it out.

Or asking directly in the question section in the product page at amazon.com and see what they have to say.

Beyond that, your tag line indicates you are running iOS 5.1. Are you certain you have an iPad 2? Does your Ipad have cameras? If it does not, then it is an iPad 1, and cannot be updated past iOS 51.1, so all this is moot.

Though you may still want to buy the Windows tablet to replace your iPad then.
